Here is the picture of the "Star Template" I use in composing my music. Of course, this is just one way to structure a song. The article is at my blog at BL8ant.com . The Star Template Compusician.

What works with Fat and Diets?

Opinion piece on health, and diet for health scientists.

Fat is a beautiful thing, for the survival of your body. It don't look so great. It often comes with many problems, and other health risks, but the fatter you are, be really happy that your body is acting as it should, designed by nature (unless you have a malady such as thyroid problems). But in general, fat on you is a good thing. But, we don't want it. So what can we do?
Remember, this article is aimed at the scientists. Don't try any of these ideas unless your Doctor has cleared you for research study. And I am not a scientist or Doctor, so I can't clear you for this.

Here are the main players. Salt (lead actor). Then we have Sugar, Vinegar, Potassium, Metabolism, Water Retention, Processed food, Individuality (your body).

How this movie plays, the plot. Your body is an incredible machine, and it is like no other. You can eat the same exact diet as a skinny person, drink the same drinks, exercise the same and you can be “fat” while the other person is skinny.

Researches often wonder why people in France eat foods rich in fat, but have less risk for heart problems, and being overweight.

Let's get the main culprit out there, SALT. But he didn't do it! He is just an accomplice! You see, your body needs water more than anything in the world. When your body senses that you are not doing a great job on drinking enough water, it will save fat to replace this loss. What?! Are you kidding me? (just like in the soap operas) It is true. Your body's main function is to regulate. If you drink too much alcohol, it compensates for your actions. Eventually, your body will tell you, “Hey, we need a break, slow down on the juice”!

Fat can be used as water in the body, so the body will store it. While at the same time it will store as much water as it can because in your body there is in a need to bring to balance the amount of salt you have in your body. Essentially, that is all that is going on:

1. Not drinking enough water.
2. Eating foods high in salt content.
3. Not getting enough Potassium (it helps regulate water).
4. Eating foods that constantly throw your body out of balance.

So what can you do to lose weight?

1. Drink tons of water (Although it is rare, if you drink too much of anything it will kill you. Then you will lose a lot of weight, but not look so great)!

2. Stay away from SALT. It is your main enemy. It is impossible to avoid completely in the American diet, but in France? They avoid it pretty well. Plus, maybe their soil is rich in Potassium? Who knows...

3. Prunes, Bananas, Molasses, are just some of the things that are high in Potassium. Try some Walnuts too if you have no allergies for any of these foods.

4. Okay, you mastered the top 3. Number 4 here is a bit more complicated. Because every BODY is different, who knows better than you what will throw your body out of sync? Coffee is good at expelling water in your body. So is alcohol. These are bad for you. So, to help answer question for, I'll make a list of things to avoid, and a list of things to try.

Avoid: Coffee, Alcohol, Sugar, Processed food (if it comes in a box or can, it is probably processed, which is another thing the French don't eat too much of). Avoid any kind of soda, even diet soda (your body wants water, soda triggers the regulatory commission in your body to start storing fat, this liquid is not the right water). The problem with these foods to avoid is that they are by nature HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. I'm drinking coffee right now.

Try: You have everything in item 3 noted, but there are some other really good foods to try. Unfortunately, they don't get top billing because they are high in sodium (salt), or don't taste too great. Vinegar. I don't know why this ingredient works so well, but there are diets that rely on this food. My guess is that it helps regulate your body in some fashion. Tuna. We get it in the can, and the number one rule is if it comes in a box or can, it is probably not too good for you. JalapeƱos. Fresh, not in the can or jar.

The last thing we hear all of the time, EXERCISE! How does this help? Ah Ha! You will be forced to drink a lot of water after you exercise. The harder the workout, the more water you will need. You will probably over drink your body's needs. Pretty soon, your exercising will become addictive. I recommend you pick something you like to do. I will get more out of basketball, than running 2 times around the track. Because I am not counting how long I play basketball, and it is not so boring.

Check with your Doctor and your common sense before taking on exercise.
I will call this the Water diet. If there is ONE thing you can do to help your body regulate its water, it is to drink more water. After that, just follow the other 3 steps. (after you consult your doctor and common sense).

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

PS If your body craves water, and you give it Mac and Cheese, your body will start regulating fat as a replacement to water. You will thus be filling your craving with the wrong thing, then your body will start craving more of it. It is a downward spiral because then you have your body craving calories. Odds are, the more calories you eat, the more salt intake you have, the greater the craving for water (which you are replacing with Mac and Cheese!). I hope this helps you understand part of the picture. (Water is what washes the sodium out of your body).

Jury Duty instructions:
Click on the image to read it. My Conclusin of this experience. If you throw your jury summons in the trash when you get it, my opinion is that no one will ever know. But, after I was done with this adventure, I did feel like I had a sense of patriotic accomplishment. And, since I did not miss any work or money, then I guess all is okay. Well, there was that 20 dollars I spent for parking....
Jury Duty "Handbook":

Here is what they gave me. I still haven't read it...

My pay for jury duty:

Here is the copy of my check for 6 bucks!

Getting out of Jury duty
Here is a picture that shows (click on it) what excuses you can use to get out of jury duty. Good Luck!

Jury Duty

You got the dreaded jury duty notice. I blogged this adventure so the "mystery" is removed as to what to do. You hear many people say, "You have to be stupid if you can't get out of jury duty".

I hear of more "stupid" people in jail, so I took my chances and went down to the court house here in Fort Worth Texas (not the jail...).

My advice is to leave early. You will have to find parking, deal with rush hour traffic, and then there is the metal detectors and taking off your shoes, etc....

You will come inside to a place where there are so many people. You will check in and then get a juror ID card. The judge will give her speech, and ask for people who can't serve to stand in line. Everyone in the line seem to be able to get out of it. Some were asked to come back at a later date. How awful ids that? Having to do this twice!

Then, from the remaining people, the judge starts assigning courts to jurors. It took less than an hour to get to this point from the time I arrived.

They asked me to fill out a questionnaire. I was to come back at 1:00 pm to my assigned Courtroom. It was 9:30 am, so I went back home and came back.

When I returned, the plaintiff and defendant came to a settlement, so I never even stepped into the courtroom. This happens a lot from what I hear. I went to the waiting room to get my check. Got my six dollars and left. If I would have served, I would have received 40 dollars for day 2 and on.

I have included in this article copies of what they gave me. You will probably be more interested in this material than what I have to say.

What I have to say. Nobody wants to be there, except the people who have time and money to waste. Do you want those people on your Jury? This idea that a person is "Patriotic" if he serves is bull. If you don't serve like they ask of you, you get fined or go to jail? This sounds like communistic patriotism to me.

Okay, then there is the fact that let's say that I am in the jury. What's on my mind? How long is this going to last. Will I miss work. And then what do i do if everyone but me thinks the guy is guilty? They want to go home, and so do I. Of course I am just saying this to demonstrate a point. The defendants chance of getting a fair trial depends on people who have time and money to waste, and have the desire to stand on principle, even against 11 people!

But, it worked for OJ. How they found a group of inept people like that, more than one! Wow! But that was OJ's defense the whole time. Make this trial so long and tedious, and have the anger pointed towards the government (some of these folks wanted to go home) that an innocent verdict was inevitable. But who has this kind of money to retain several lawyers for this long a period of time? Not too many people.

Which is another argument. The rich have the money to get out of a conviction, the poor do not.

Look at the pictures of the brochures, see what you think. I did my duty as a citizen and it opened my eyes. By the way, I wore a shirt with a guy choking another guy (animated) to steal his guitar. That did not get me out of my duty. Good luck in your adventure!
