This airline bombing attempt...

My partial observation on the matter of the attempted Christmas airplane bombing in Detroit Michigan, 2009.

When all of the dust has settled, and all of the finger pointing is done, we come to realize that it was not all of the government protections in place that thwarted this terrorist attempt, it was the actions of a good person who overcame the threat.

I actually DO think it is a good idea to have standard and customary protections in place when the customer places his purchase of an airline ticket. Any protection or fail safe system should have a way for the customer to argue and challenge any accusation as well. Why? How many times will you write "09" instead of "10" when referring to the date? That's right, humans naturally make mistakes, everyone of us, all of the way up to the top.

So, when our leaders discuss ways to protect us even further than we are now, perhaps they need to discuss ways a person can remedy mistakes made by other humans. If a man is placed on a list, any list, there should be ways to effectively challenge these findings. And it needs to be done in as swift a manner as the speed of which he was placed on the list. One person in government needs to be the list Czar (Schindler?), so that this one person can maintain and correct mistakes.

I'm not against profiling as long as there is the ability to rectify mistakes.

And lastly, the failed bombing attempt on that day in Detroit was indeed a Christmas miracle.

Peace Out, EinStud
