The Dream

My Dream

I dream of a small cozy house overlooking the Black Sea. I see myself living with, and married to, a beautiful young lady. Our cozy little home also overlooks the wonderful city of Yalta, in Ukraine. Of course, my lady will want to travel and see other countries like America, as well as France and England.

In my dream I do not see much work, because I heard that if you love what you're doing, then you'll never have to work a day in your life.

I love music and travel. I love to listen as well as perform. I see in my dream, lands, beautiful lands so far away, that can only be described by sound, for words will fall short. Those people, from all of those far away places, express their language differently, but we all dance to the same songs.

Maybe the world will be a better place when people start expressing their dreams. That is part of my dream, to “DO”. I can dream a light bigger than the moon, but if nothing is done, I live a life of darkness.

I hope someone out there has a dream they want to share. It is time we start lighting the world with all of our hopes and dreams.

I know I am not alone.

We all sing a different tune, but our hearts are in the same place. - Gary Ruff, the dreamer

Peace Out

PS My comment to this “Song Singoff”?

There's a Hendrix version of the SGT. Peppers song too, and U2.
How's your version coming along? (yes you). :) DO! (Hint: I'm your friend.)

(a little help):

Give it a try, I double dog dare ya!

Words on video

Lyrics:

Quote,

"What would you do if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.

Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song,
And I’ll try not to sing out of key.

I get by with a little help from my friends,
I get high with a little help from my friends,
I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends.

What do I do when my love is away.
(Does it worry you to be alone)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(Are you sad because you’re on your own)
No I get by with a little help from my friends,
I get high with a little help from my friends,
Oh, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends.

Do you need anybody,
I need somebody to love.
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.

Would you believe in love at first sight,
Yes I’m certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see hen you turn out the light,
I can’t tell you, but I know it’s mine.

Oh I get by with alittle help from my friends.
I get high with a little help from my friends,
Oh I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends.

Do you need anybody,
I just need somebody to love,
Could it be anybody,
I want somebody to love.

Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mm I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends,
Oh I get high with a little help from my friends,
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends. “

Power - Computer Musician

If you are a computer musician you will want to always have a source of power for your musical instrument (the computer).

On the road I bring with me a 500 watt Power Inverter. I plug one end into the cigarette lighter of my car (12 volt DC) and the laptop into the inverter (120 volt AC). I would think you could get by on less wattage than I use, but it is much MUCH better to have more power than you need.

Once you get the volume cranked up, the hard drives spinning and your music program testing the limits of your CPU, you'll be glad you had the extra power. A 1000 watt inverter would be great too.

Which, by the way, brings me to a dilemma that computer musicians will face in the future; power for their instrument. On this same day, I wrote an article that deals with "alternative energy". The reason for this was to get the word out to my fellow musicians that we often take for granted the one thing we need most: Electricity.

In years to come, our laptops will be powered by alcohol, rather than a battery. But if you have a full studio to power up, then it might be worth while to have a back up plan. Guitarists can always pick up an acoustic guitar. Drummers, and quite frankly all other musicians, seem to have the luxury of being able to make music with or without electricity. Computer Musicians must have electrical power, and some back up plan.

So, if your interested in more than just buying a power inverter and running off the motor of your car, then put your headphones down and see what we have cooked up for your power needs.

PS I do use a European power converter when I am overseas. They cost about 30 dollars at Wal-Mart. I use a 1500 watt DC to AC power inverter when I am DJ'ing and running a karaoke monitor (that's cutting it close). My article on "Alternative Energy" includes making power from SOUND. It is an interesting read!
Alternative Energy Freaks

I am an "Alternative Energy Freak". I love the thought, ideas, and possibilities of science. I thirst for the knowledge of our past, melded with the knowledge of today, and shaping this towards our future. No idea is without any merit. I remember a time when man said "... if a man were suppose to fly, then he would be born with wings". I guess the Wright Brothers missed that message. The point is; if you can dream it, then it can happen.

There are so many ideas, questions, answers, and poppycock out there, that I thought I would bring some of this topic "Alternative Energy" together in one forum. My principle love is Music. Wouldn't it be great to discover that sound waves will be the answer to solving our "free energy" quests? When I play my music, everyone has the energy to get up and leave! ha ha

All joking aside, right now I am on a journey to find the answer to this; "Is there another way to split Hydrogen from Oxygen other than through electrolysis"? And in searching for that answer (not found by me yet!) I just corralled up many bits of information about alternative fuel, and energy.

I think the solution to the whole problem is not creating free energy, but how to store it and use it later.

Here is the link to a site that will help you make decisions on investing in Alternative Energy Companies: http://www.altenergystocks.com/comm/content/power-efficiency/

Kanye West

I think the performance Kanye gave on SNL was great. I think other artist's paid attention to the two giant screens and the animation (story) that was being told as he sang. Now, some of you say he was lip-syncing. Maybe so. So what? If this turns out to be something where he is not even singing the real song (like Milli Vanilli), well then send him to jail! Not.

He's a performer first, a singer second. Great performance Kanye!

Pyramid Sequencer

The Pyramid Sequencer:

Wake up Nintendo DS and all that are interested in breaking the bank in music (Sony, Wii?)

I love the new Nintendo DS Korg Synthesizer. That said, I also love making music. I usually make it through writing notes, scoring it, and through some magic, it comes out the shoot (never quite like I intended mind you).

I have an idea for the game makers. Start setting up music like a pyramid. Let each block be “editable”. Here is why. A normal man can look at blocks. To make music, he has to look at blocks and decide how long or short the sound. That is where the roadblock in music exists! If you know me, then you know about roadblocks... I overcome them. And so do you!

I don't want to get too far past the average person interested in music with tech talk. But, I have to say to the pro's, each pyramid block can be a “backstage” to the quarter note (or 32nd note if you're that far inclined). Thus allowing for overlapping in the tracks.

Okay, back to Earth...

When I am scoring music, I am usually interested in creating the melody. Melody consists of different lengths of sound. I also concern myself with pitch, chord etc. That is what all composers of music do when they play an instrument.

The Computer has become an instrument of music. For it to evolve properly, we must do two things. One, we must make it easy for people to understand. Two, we must make it uniquely better than any instrument that has come before.

Well, the pro's know much about number two. As for number one? The Pyramid.

A half note by any other name is still a half note. And half of a pyramid block is still half a note.

The advancement, enhancement, enticement, romancement, is that each block contains a sound from anything, INCLUDING... the singer.

And with the Pyramid scheme (aren't those illegal?) I have come up with, we can all start making sweet music together.

Here's the picture worth a thousand words. I don't have the time or desire to embark on this project. Go to it Geeks!

Remember in your minds; that the bottom of the Pyramid should be allowed to overlap in the sequencer, BUT make it adjustable or fade in fade out if you will.

The Compusician

Cubase, Magix, Pro Tools...

An idea for sequencer manufacturers such as Magix, Pro Tools, Cubase, etc...

I just finished working on another project that took months to complete. One problem I ran into was locating my notes for amplifier settings, pitch settings, settings, settings, lyrics, and settings...

Wouldn't it be great if there were a way to make “sticky notes” (yellow of course), and I could stick them anywhere on my sequencer! Maybe it would be a small yellow square with the letter “S” to show that there is a note there, and then it expands to show the full note when I click on it?

Just an idea.

Thanks, Gary Ruff, The Compusician

PS Maybe I should have sold this as a program for 3M corporation, but for now it is free for the world to expand upon...

PS That is where the money would be... make electronic sticky notes to work with all programs as an app! Active X, or how about VST? Vst is an odd idea, but perhaps as an overlay (layered over the sequencer screen, set everything else to “clear” or “matching background”, then order up “sticky notes” when asked for in the tool bar?

There's one hell of an app! I don't ask for anything but perhaps some bread crumbs from the kind programmer that takes on this idea (and a million bucks if it ever comes to spare). I've been drinking and I'm out of my mind.

Great Easy New Sauce Recipe!

One of my great loves is cooking. I found an easy to make sauce great for pork chops, chicken nuggets, and anything you can think of to dip (maybe not potato chips!).

Here is the easy recipe. You can measure the ingredients to your personal taste.

Poupon Sauce

1/2 cup of Brown Mustard like Grey Poupon
2 tsp. of Soy Sauce
1 tsp. of Red Wine Vinegar

Mix with spoon until all blended together smoothly.

Enjoy!

SongMentary

A song + commentary = SongMentary. The idea is to read a news article or somehow formulate an opinion about something or someone, then post it here to this blog.

Then, go into the studio, whip up a 30 second music bed, and lay down some thoughts (words) to the music. WoW...

What is "WOW!" is that I will make the music beds already made up, and ready for YOU to use in your ringtones, blogs, background music, commercials, or even make a full song out of it. Sometimes, I will also provide the stems, loops, samples, and acapella when I have the extra time.

I also like the idea of anyone sending in their short poems to this blog, and maybe my friends Brittany, Justin, Hannah, Paul, Stacy... will make up a song from your peotry too???? (Try keeping it to 5 lines or less and straight from your heart... the musical magicians will do the rest. And your payment will be just knowing you touched someone elses heart).

And if you don't like that? Then MAKE A SONGMENTARY!

Get busy, Peace Out, Gary Ruff

What is a stem?

What is a stem?

"Stems" are an isolated part of a song. A vocal stem would be Acapella of a part of the song. When a musician makes a song now days, he uses a sequencer. His song might have 32 tracks and in track 1 might be the drums, track 2 might be the tambourine, track 3 might be some other style of drums. Well, a "Beat Stem" could be those 3 tracks combined.

Kanye West has stems for free to his hit songs. You can use these to mash up your own song, or use parts of the stem in your own music (read and make sure he allows this).

My biggest roadblock to making music is ME...

Every time I am out and about and see a new piece of equipment I can use, I buy it and it sits sometimes for years still new in the box. When I am working on a song, it seems that a TV show comes on, an interesting blog comes up, a friend or a relative calls, or just the escape of inspiration to get up off the couch to do anything.

This happens for me because I am thinking about this song, that song, this trick, that nuance, this promise, that deadline, and it keeps snow balling until I become overwhelmed to the point where I am “Log Jammed”; my need to do nothing more until I can break free from all of the distractions called life. And as a human, I blame everything BUT myself for my lack of completeness (finishing the song).

I have a list, maybe 2 lists, maybe a thousand lists of things and rules that will help me through. I think they are “To Do” lists for the next time I get stuck. But I never can remember where I put them all, and what I was talking about when I wrote the list in the first place. And as frustrating as this has become in my music making, I don't even want to imagine having to tour and perform live every night, or produce some one else's song, leaving no hope for my love, the art of producing my very own music. So, I salute to those of you chained to a record deal or performance contracts. I know the artist inside of you is hurting even worse (but the money sure is good, eh?).

So, I made two rules to be placed ahead of my list of music production steps (my steps will be different from yours, so I won't bore you with them).

Rule 1: Make one table, desk, stand, or clipboard that is always completely clear with no lists or junk on it. Make sure that there is only blank paper at this location. When I am done, I'll take the paper away. No clutter at this point of the process. It is the place of the “blank canvas”.

Rule 2: Go to the computer, turn it on. As I need things, I will put them in to my songs.

With so much to do and so many loops, samples, computer files, and junk laying around in the studio, in the computer, and in my head coupled with my lack of where to begin or end, I just need to remember I can clear everything from my head, burn a disk to save my files, clear out the computer, and start fresh BECAUSE... As I need things, I will put them in to my songs.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

Honest Golfer, J.P. Hayes

Regarding the story about the Golfer who turned himself in for cheating, J.P. Hayes.

Sure I would turn myself in... just after I get throeugh turning myself into the Police Department for speeding (1 mph over) last week. And I took an extra breath mint after my meal at iHop, so that will set me back a bit. Oh yeah, and that time the boss overpaid me... I'll need to turn myself in for not noticing it sooner, and with interest, because I'm such a good guy. The Golfer did good. In life we get to the next step by looking ahead, trying to do our best, and leave our path behind us in just as good a condition for the next person.

I imagine this Golfer was seeking help with answers to his dilemna, and he took the high road all of the way through. If you found a bag of drugs out on the Golf course, the right thing to do would be to turn it in to the police. Doing the right thing isn't always doing the "best" thing. The cop woould probably bust you for having in possesion of drugs.

Just use common sense when presented with decisions of "good" conscience. I think this Golfer, J.P. Hayes did what was right for him and his life. Me? I would never use Titlest. I would have to turn myself in for using a ball of lesser quality than Wilson.

Sasha
Sequencetruments

A lot of artists are using what I call "Sequencer Instruments", or "Sequencetruments". A music loop artist uses his sequencer as a canvas. He or she gets a sound, puts it in say, mmmm track 5. Then he pitches it down in steps in tracks 1-4. In tracks 6-11 he pitches it up. The cool thing is that the artist can pitch it up by as little as one tenth (1/10th!) of a semitone! And a new scale is born.

I like the sequencetrument because I can take a Pink Floyd Guitar sound sample, place it in the sequencer like I described above, make my own scale, and then pitch bend, warp, stutter, do guitar tricks, etc and push out a sample that is perfect in harmonics and balanced down to a 32nd note! Technically, you could create the sound to be a 1/1000th note, but I assume you would not hear it since it passes so fast!

Lastly, this is a neat and organized way to drop in an mp3 of a song you made, or another artist... I drop it in track 13, and my sequencetrument occupies tracks 1-11 (12 is empty). When I have my "Riff" ready I bounce it back out and mute the track 13.

So I am clear as to what I do, if you care... I'll cut a sample that equals a quarter note, use the pitch of the sample in let's say track 7. I might then use a sample in track 8, half note, and apply a "wah" effect. Then in the sequencer I might use a quarter note sample, pith bended down of track 9.

I use my mixer, equalizer, and FX to make my riff sound just right. Then I use the auto master (I like to Peak Limit, maybe too much) and I have created a riff or a sample.

The possibilities are endless, and you can get effects like Little Wayne does. Whatever sound sample you put in the sequencer can be pitched and altered in an organized manner to "play" it like an instrument. And it is time consuming to build one, but fun as hell if you're into music.

I see vocals going this way in the future. Something will break soon.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff The Compusician

Steelers Chargers game

Russian or Italian Mob?

The NFL is run like a mafia. Coaches and players are fined for talking about the officiating. Referees openly admit mistakes, then get fined. And while some say that a game is not fixed, I ask you, “Would you bet on a game, have an inside connection make the proper calls, then come out ahead several hundreds of thousands of dollars... without ever being caught?”. I wouldn't either. But history has shown that plenty of people are willing.

So this weekend the Steelers won a game. The officiating was very, very questionable. And when in America has it been shunned to ask questions? Usually when someone else is doing something wrong. Fans will continue to argue that nothing is going on. It's all a conspiracy theory. And the the crook walks, half of us can't see, while the other half is ostracized (kind of sounds like politics).

Where there is money, there is the potential of crime. Let me repeat that, and then prove it. Where there is money, there is the potential of crime. Bank robberies happen every day. Government officials are caught and reported to the press constantly. Hell, we have an FBI that is designed to catch criminals, and they, every freakin' day! But noooooo, it can't happen in the NFL.

Wake up. And if you are awake, wake up the schlub next to you.

No, I did not bet on the game. Yes, I am a Steelers fan. Go waste your money. The mob needs it.

Gary Ruff finds possible cures for Cancer, Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure...

Cure for High Blood Pressure?

I think I stumbled into a possible cause and possible cure for high blood pressure. I think the cause of high blood pressure could be related to many things, but one thing intrigues me most. I think the lack of air is what causes a person to acquire high blood pressure, and perhaps many other ailments.

My discovery was made on my own time, not acting as a Doctor or any other type of medical professional. And here is the proof; try it for yourself! If you have a blood pressure measuring device, sit down and relax. In a safe place, and in a safe manner, hyperventilate. I breathed in and out quickly for about 24 times before I became real dizzy (usually it only takes 7 times). Stop hyperventilating before you pass out. And certainly consult a medical professional to determine if this idea is safe for you (before you try this idea).

You'll see that your high blood pressure has gone down. It won't last long. After 10 minutes, my blood pressure went back to what it was prior to hyperventilating.

I will watch this effect over the coming months and see if I have an overall improvement. Perhaps us 'fat' people are fat because we have a lower metabolism, which may be caused by us not getting enough air and/or water? When we exercise, we drink water and suck in a lot of air to recover. So, while we are sitting and relaxed, maybe if we do my method, a glass of water and hyperventilate, over time we will cure ourselves? It is just a curios question. And it sure seems to be the cheapest solution out there on the market!

If this idea works for you, please pass it around and get this idea going to save lives! I give reprint permission, without any alteration, for this article. If this idea doesn't work for you, then post a response here at this blog ( http://sundayisfunday.blogspot.com/ ), and perhaps you can add any ideas that worked for you that I did not mention.

Can you imagine if this somehow cures some other ailments such as Cancer, Diabetes, or Sleep related problems? For those with nothing else to lose (but everything to gain), maybe throw in a prayer along with the air and glass of water.

Peace Out (and good luck if you decide to try this idea) Gary Ruff

Top of the Mountain

At the top of the mountain, with a bigger hill to climb.

I don't know that Obama has anything left to prove to anyone since he now has made it to the top. Something tells me that inside this man is a drive, a fervor for excellence. He now has to prove to himself that he is exactly, or more, than he says he is as a man.

I want him and others to remember that the media has a propensity to build a man up, so as to tear a man down. Barack is wise enough to know this, as it actually did happen to him in his own church. Those of which he thought were friends, later threw him into the fire. The media's number one concern is to make money, to sell news. Everyone knows what the power of money can do to a friendship or loveship.

Barack has a team in place to dispel Internet rumors and falsehoods. It is important to let the press run free, for the enemy that speaks loud is far less dangerous than the enemy that lurks and says nothing. The man who cries foul, the group that protests, the staff that disagrees, are cause for smiles in America, while in most countries it is not.

It is important for me as an American to help this President succeed, because then and only then will America and the world achieve. Barack Obama is at the top of the mountain, the love in each and every individual's heart will lift him higher.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

What is a Sequenstrument?

Well, modern music has evolved with the computer. A "Sequenstrument" is a "Sequencer + a Sound sample" and it yields a completely new instrument.

I took an electric guitar sound, a chord that sounds good. I put it in my sequencer (like Magix, Cubase, FL Studio, Cake Walk, Pro Tools, etc...). Then I set it in the track as the middle note (maybe track number 5). I pitched down tracks 1 to 4, while I pitched up tracks 6 to 11.

I put my song bed (Drum and Bass or music bed) in track 13 (I like to have space between my tracks).

Tracks 1 through 11 are now free and available for me to "Riff". And I can riff during the whole song. I can riff a flute, guitar, vocal, you name it! I can riff a part of the song like the verse. AND, I build in the effects to the riff "on the fly"! Yes, I can track effect the sound or I can note effect the part. The point to this idea is to make the riff with a sound and distort it all to hell, but at the same time have it musically appealing.

Here is an idea for the music sequencer industry. I have the perfect set up for my "Hydrogen Guitar" sound. I have my pitch bends in place. I have my quarter notes, whole notes, and trills all set up nice and neatly in my sequencer. Damn! I wish I could use this template and simply swap out an instrument!

In other words... my sequencer instrument is all set up for me to play the lead guitar part, but I want to swap out the one single sound of the guitar to be a piano, not guitar.

Watch what happens to vocals when our Sequencer Programmers understand the musicians needs!. (Because I can alter a vocal over 11 tracks in a riff just the same as I can an instrument, remember: all I need to input is a sound).

Peace Out, Gary Ruff also known as The Compusician

Car runs on Air!

It is true. The automobile industry is using a compressed air design that will enable current engines to be transformed easily.

If you read this blog often, then you'll remember I spoke of this idea years ago. I also proposed a return to the "Steam Engine" with a return system so as to save the water it uses. I'm sure the steam engine will come about as these scientific engineers desire more horse power.

The principle of the modern steam engine (Sengine) is to take a gallon of gas, use the combustible part (fumes), compress the air, heat the water, use the "wasted energy" to convert to hydrogen, re-enter it into the system, and your efficiency of power is immesurate.

I'll explain sometime in the future why a pendulumn engine (Pengine) would be an added beneift to the steam system I described above.

By the way, with this new Hydrogen Technology, why has not anyone investigated using a water solution which includes small amounts of sugar? The hydrogen content in sugar is great, plus it is soluable in water, therefore may be easily converted to usable hydrogen in greater amounts than current processes. I ask, because I do not know what the waste would be when produced with this procedure.

For now, let's applaud these car manufacturers for at least trying to give us an alternative to oil. Any alternative will have to include a cheap way to convert our modern technology into future technology.

Are YOU any hotter?

Probably not, unless your about 24 years old, long blond hair, about 6 feet tall, and speak with a foreign accent. I think that this blog will be, in part, my search for the best looking woman.

I doubt any candidates will be over 30. And if they are, there is a good chance they are lying about their age. Extra credit will be given if she is holding a beer (unopened), a football, or a good hot meal.

That last one "...a good hot meal" is a laughter for the American girl. Burger King or Domino's Pizza does not count.

I just want to mention to the guys. If Vlada had a twin sister named Shannon, at birth they were separated, and Shannon was raised as an American girl while Vlada was raised as a Ukrainian girl... (and all else being equal)... take the Ukrainian girl.

Gentleman, you will be well rewarded with a woman that constantly desires to please you. Of course, she is doing it for the family. While the the American girl takes, takes, takes... the Ukrainian girl gives, gives, gives. Yes, of course there are a few exceptions, but in general the rule stands.

She will be an exotic beauty, and in return she gets a well mannered distinguished man that has proper public standing (yes, a man just like me... The best looking man in the world also).

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

Her name is Sasha. She's from Moscow, Russia. Personally, I prefer Ukrainian girls, but it doesn't hurt to look around! (A blogger's got to throw in some "spice" once in a while, yes?)

Looking for something to do in Crimea Ukraine?

Anyone who has been struck down by historic church fatigue syndrome after a weekend in the Golden Ring will agree that travel in Russia and the CIS, while spiritually rewarding, can be a little repetitive at times. If you’ve reached the point where you can’t face another train journey spent staring out of the window at a wall of birch trees, then the overwhelming amount of history and geography crammed into Crimea’s small area might be just what you need to ease your travel ennui. The national pastime of getting invaded by just about everybody has created a fascinating blend of European and Middle-Eastern cultures, while the bizarre geography of the South, with sheer cliffs rising abruptly from wild meadows, is also unforgettably distinctive. Arriving in the undistinguished capital of Simferopol, it’s easy to wonder what all the fuss is about. However, a short hop to the south coast will open up a wealth of holiday possibilities, from lazy beach-based lounging to hardcore climbing and hiking trips.

Crimea contains 517 kilometers of beaches for those who want nothing more than to act like a stereotypical Brit and dedicate an entire holiday to frying every square inch of skin an angry shade of pink. The most famous and most-visited of the Crimean beach resorts is Yalta, formerly the number one summer holiday destination for party bigwigs. It boasts three pebbly beaches, a newly renovated promenade and swarms upon swarms of Russian and Ukrainian tourists. Sandy beaches and a quieter atmosphere can be found at Sudak, where a stunning Genoese hilltop fortress overlooks the wide sweeping bay, or at Feodosiya, which also offers mineral springs, mud baths and a Mediterranean style old town.

On the other hand, if lying inactive while sand gradually works its way into every bodily niche sounds more like a cruel form of punishment than a form of relaxation, then pack your granola bars and lose yourself in the maze-like valleys of the originally-named Crimean mountains, which run parallel to the southeastern coast. I say that figuratively: make sure you take a guide if you aren’t a very experienced map-reader. I made the mistake of thinking that the remnants of my geography knowledge from school would suffice, and assured the girls that I was practically a master orienteer, before leading them on a scenic but humiliatingly circular route. Hiking is also a great way to explore some of the more remote Crimean sights, such as the eerie wind-carved rock formations in the Valley of the Ghosts, or the ancient cave cities dotted around the countryside. Apart from looking pretty, the weird geology also creates some excellent opportunities for climbers of all levels, while the rolling terrain and well-maintained trails could have been made for mountain biking. The websites tryukraine.com or mt.crimea.com can both help to organize adventurous excursions of all types.

However lazy or active your holiday might be, it’s worth taking at least a little time to delve into Crimea’s checkered past. Russian history buffs will undoubtedly want to spend some time in Yalta, where you can visit the Livadia Palace, which was the scene of the Yalta Conference as well as the summer residence of the last tsars. You can also watch your friends turn glaucous with envy when you tell them you’ve taken the world’s longest trolleybus between Yalta and Simferopol. It’s reputedly extremely slow and boring. More contemporary Soviet history can be found at Balaklava, near Sevastopol, where a nuclear submarine base, built to withstand a direct hit from an atomic bomb, operated in deepest secrecy until 1991. It’s now been made into a museum, which can be visited with an easy-to-arrange guide. If you want to get acquainted with some genuinely Crimean history and culture, then the Tartar town of Bakhchisarai, midway between Yalta and Simferopol, is the best place to start. The Hansarai palace in the middle of town was formerly the seat of the Crimean Khans, while just outside of town there’s a 15th century Orthodox monastery carved into the side of a cliff. Bakhchisarai also makes a good starting point to explore the cave cities; while you’re there, try some real Crimean food, such as charcoal-grilled rams’ testicles, or just regular shashlyk for the unadventurous.

If all this sounds a little bit too worthy, and all you want from a holiday is intoxicated frolicking and cool laser effects, then check out the KaZantip festival, which runs from July 21 to August 26 in Popovka, on the West coast. These guys certainly take the view that bigger is better, with 14 stages and thousands of superstar DJs you’ve never heard of playing trance and techno for five eardrum-tickling weeks. You can book tickets and accommodation on kazantip.com.

Considering how much Crimea has to offer all types of tourist, the biggest surprise it that it’s not completely overrun. With a little initiative, it’s possible to organize a cheap, varied and novel trip which will leave you wondering why everyone doesn’t go.

• Getting there — Four to seven trains a day leave from the Kursky Vokzal for Simferopol; some continue to Sevastopol or Feodosiya. A platskart berth as far as Simferopol will cost around 1,000 rubles, depending on the type of train. Aeroflot has two daily flights from Sheremetyevo to Simferopol from 11,690 rubles for a return ticket. You can fly from Domodedovo with Domodedovo Airlines for approximately 15,000 rubles return.

• Accommodation — Most people who go to the Crimea stay in the “chastny sektor” i.e. in a hut rented out by one of the babushki who infest every station, bus stop and busy street corner. This can be as cheap as $10 a night. There is also an emerging luxury cottage market, and prices for a three-bedroom cottage in Zolotaya Bukhta, a beach town Simferopol, start at $70 per night on vtu.hotmail.ru. Otherwise, for a whopping $220 a night in peak season you can stay in the four-star Oreanda, Yalta’s finest hotel, with its own private beach.

• Visas — Almost no one needs a visa for Ukraine except for stays of greater than 90 days. Citizens of Australia or New Zealand do need a visa, which must be arranged in advance, although no invitation is required at present.

Banana Diet

A new fad hitting Japan, and soon all over the world is the banana diet fad. Have you ever seen a fat monkey?

It is a simple diet. Before your meal eat 1 or two bananas. I like to throw in a full bottle of water. Eat your meal like you normally would. I think this diet helps ease the cravings of alcohol, nicotine, and sweets.

Here is a more thorough article on this diet: Link

Learning as I go...

1. About music: I tend to start out strong with an idea, tell the world, "what I'm gonna do...", then something comes up, and the project does not get done. I set myself up to fail immediately. And frankly for me, I thrive on success. A song has many components, and it is more inviting for me to master one of them. Aha! Here is where I usually say, "what I'm gonna do...". This time I will wait and start saying what I did.

2. About politics: I learned that the Republican Party is the party of "fear". They use this well to motivate their voters. It's no secret that their are two motivating factors in life, fear and greed. And it is not to wonder that the Democrats are the party of "greed". They use money, the economy, welfare, and other issues to relate to their base. Lately, I've noticed the two candidates, McCain and Obama, have tried to "cross" the lines of demarcation and Republicans seem to be flirting with "greed" issues, while the Democrats seem to be flirting with "fear" issues. It appears to me that this strategy is not working. There is one more thought on this topic, a third motivational factor often overlooked in politics; LOVE. Fear, Greed, and Love are all motivational factors. So, for a third party to succeed, they will need to be based on "Love" issues.

3. About the Election in 2008: I see Obama as the best choice because the Republicans had a long time to steer this ship in the right direction, and the ship is running aground. I see McCain as the victor in this election simply based on race and gender (his running mate). Here is the problem: I also see an incumbent President that has a history of befuddling the elections. I think this year will be no exception. "Out of the blue" will come some event that will cause the President to postpone the election, or an event may occur after the election, with the same resulting action by the President; the inauguration will be postponed, and Dick Cheney (due to the Constitution) will become President. I will not elaborate as to "what" because my guess is as good as yours. All I know is that so many things were done in the Bush administration (hey I voted for the guy 1 time) that speak louder than the words of his character. He seems like a good man, but maybe the people he "surrounded himself with" are exactly the type of people who would be considered "fat cats" on Wall Street, and sell America as they laugh their way to the bank. LOVE; I love America, and no party of "greed" or "fear" will change my feelings. After the election, I see myself joining the Libertarian Party, and from there I will try to do my part. I can cross off my list of things to do before I die, Run for President.

4. Running for President: I did this "just to see if it could be done by an average person". It can, and it is a lot of time consuming paperwork. I see that there is absolutely no problem with the Federal Government and the FEC. They were very helpful in my campaign. The "stone wall" comes from each individual states rules as to filing, and getting on the ballot. It would be great for this nation as a whole if some changes were made as to Ballot Access, Voter Fraud, and the Electoral College. However, it would take a Constitutional Convention to initiate these changes; states will not give up this valuable power, and I don't blame them... but in the corrupt hands of some of the State's Leaders, we need a solution. If you want to understand a third party, understand that there are Americans whose Love for their country, the Rule of Law, and Equality far outweigh the Fear and Greed the other two parties perpetuate.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

PS I'm done running for President, now I'm going on to music full speed ahead!

Hooking to the grid...

You can sell your solar energy you make, wind power, or any other type of energy to the power company. Why would you want to do this? Because instead of having batteries to store your electricy the solar panels made during the day time, you just buy back your power you sold to the electric company.

Of course, if you make more than you use, you might actually make a profit, but it is unlikely.

As America grows and starts using more and more electric cars, there will be a greater demand for electricity (and less demand for oil!).

If everyone in your community had some small solar power panels, wind power generators, and/or water (hydro electric) systems imagine how much better off you and your community would be (and perhaps turning a profit).

It all starts with one person. Maybe you can build a simple system just to run you lights at night (a stand alone system).

Here is a link for some great ideas, and iformation on how to make your own electricity. LINK: http://www.house-energy.com/Wind/On-Grid.htm

How to win a woman...

---

Knowing how to deal with women is one of the most important life
skills anyone can have these days.

Here's a list of what NOT to do with women EVER.

1) Do not fight with her. Fighting always creates tension and
kills attraction. Fighting with a woman is useless. Even if you
win the argument, you will still lose the war.

2) Do not try to use logic to show her why she should come
be with you. Attraction and sexuality is based on
feelings, not logic. No matter how brilliant your logic is,
she's still going to leave you, with women logic
does not win you anything but the door.

3) Do not reassure any woman that you will change, that old
things will be "different from now on". It's like trying to
it’s a sign that you are conforming to what you believe to be
her view of you. You will loose her and loose your self in
the process.

4) Do not keep telling her you love her. She won't care. All a
woman cares about is how much she loves you...not the other way
around!)

5) Do not beg her to come back. The more you beg, the more she
will ignore you.

6) Do not try to make her feel guilty about leaving
you. (Examples: "I can't work without you." and "Don't break
up with me during exam period...") It won't work. It will
only make her dread being with you even more.

7) Do not act depressed so they will feel bad for you.
Sympathy does not equal attraction!

8) Do not talk to her friends to win their support. All
she cares is how SHE feels about you. Even if her friends
love you, they can't make her love you forever. External
pressure never lasts longer. If your girl decides to
stay with you, her motivation has to come from within.

9) Do not spend money on gifts and flowers for her. You
can't buy her heart back with money. There is nothing more
expensive then cheap woman.

10) Do not push her into getting back with you. The more
you push, the more she will pull away.

Here is a list of what to DO with women

1) COMPLIMENT her whenever you feel she looks her best, smells
her best, feels her best and especially feels her worst.
Because women are junkies for compliments. You keep feeding
them compliments and they will keep coming back. And always
stagger compliments because you need to keep the suspense
when the compliments are coming. This is really important, this
is how dogs and dolphins are trained, works great for women too.
Don’t forget to compliment details, hands, jewelry, and clothing.

2) Try and do something she has never done before. Something new
and exciting. Adventure is something women look for in men.
Keep her wondering what you will do.

3) Stay mysterious. Women get bored if they know everything about you.
Be unpredictable at all times. Never let her know what your feelings
are about her. Let her write her own fantasies because it
will be much greater than anything you try to instill.

4) Always look and smell your best, no matter where you go
and what you do. Women love to smell cologne on a man, it reminds
them of you whenever they smell that same cologne. Smell is
primal and all the politically correct media hype cannot
erase 3.9 billion years of evolution.

5) Always be fun. Most guys are morose and depressed.
Everybody always wants to be where the fun is.

6) Talk about your family and friends. Women love to know you
are a caring, considerate, loving guy.

7) Make her feel like she’s the most important person when
you are with her. Don’t give her too much confidence; just
make sure she feels that she is the center of attention when
you are with her.

8) Look in her eyes whenever you talk to her. When men look
away women look at it as they are afraid, and unsure of themselves.
Let her know that you are confident. A study done on cult leaders
there was one common denominator found among all the cult leaders
including Charles Manson is they always smile.

9) Hold her hand, as much as you can. It makes a woman feel that
you title her as your girl. They enjoy it and feel that you are
in control. Women cannot handle being in control of a
relationship, date, or encounter. You must take control.

10) Always have a plan. Never leave anything up to her or up in
the air. Women get bored easily.

Coup attempt in USA

United States Coup going on ...

Right before our eyes, just like a magician's slight of hand, a coup attempt is going on in the United States, and no one sees it... except for me.

Vladimir Putin found a way to stay in power, and there is no way George Bush will be outdone by his adversary.

Rich people and their sense of pride and entitlement is really amazing. It is NOT what this government was founded on, it was what our free people of the past ran from. Let's take a look...

The President can make laws called “Executive Orders”. Since it takes time for the other branches to react to these powers, it is feasible that a dishonest peron (in sheeps clothing) will have time to do our country damage. This is nothing new. ALL Presidents are trusted with this power, I hope you will agree he has it.

I think it was in the spring of 2007, President Bush authorizes himself to be the supreme dictator of America if there becomes a time of crisis (really, I can't believe it either).

If this coup attempt failed, where would they (Cheney and Bush) go? Good question, but I don't think these two understand the word failure. I'll bet that Bush will never admit to ever owning the Texas Rangers (inside jab). I think Bush has recently bought land in Paraguay. Yes, what a great place to hide, if necessary.

(Please notice that I have used links to news sources from all over the world. The USA has a news bias, so news like this does not come to the people's eyes.)

Well, two things are missing, right?

1) To control the world, you need to control it's money. The President had Congress' blessing to give the Secretary of Treasury Henry Pualson the power during this economic time of crisis, the October 2008 Financial Meltdown.

2) To control the USA, and stay in power, you would have to find a way to “cancel” the elections. I believe that they do have a plan, it just has not happened yet. Well, maybe it is developing? Would mass voter fraud and a United Nations probe into illegalities be enough to postpone the elections? Perhaps an assassination (does not seem like the style of these current criminals)?

Once the election is postponed, there is no turning back. This plan does seem way out there, and a “conspiracy” theory to me, but at what point did someone stand up and say that Hitler was a bad man? At what point do we realize the wisdom of George Washington and other founding fathers? There are some men in this world that are not average guys just like you and I. The Pleasures and Pride of the rich are too much for me to understand. But I do understand that every claim I have made in this article is backed up with fact.

God I hope I am wrong.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

EPTC is a stock to buy... yes, NOW,

What stocks have risen in this bad stock market environment? Well, not many. But EPTC ( Epicet ) has what is as close to a cure for cancer as anyone has imagined!

I also own a great stock for the future, when all of this corruption in the markets subsides. It is FNIX ( Fonix Corp), it has risen according to Morningstar (hard to get quotes on this gem).

FONIX (FNIX) is going to be the company (and currently IS the company) that does text to speech. It is my hope, and others, that they will further develop the translation part of this program they developed for Apple Corp.

"I see into the future where a person can call his Russian girlfriend from the USA, and when he speaks, she hears Russian. Oh, and when she speaks in Russian, he hears English.", says Ruff a Computer Music wiz from the states.

In this market, if you look around, you'll see so, some opportunities. Imagine buying a million shares of stcok for one low price. I got mine at $200. I guess I overpaid by $100 this week.

Just look to the future, and find the valued stocks. The world is your oyster right now.

As for the song I'm making

Ukraine Girls is coming along at a snails pace. I had to redo my thinking of where to put it because SpliceMusic is not working properly, again.

Also, I am making an instrument. It is a guitar made in my sequencer. It's sounding pretty good. If I can figure out a way to get a VST to hold music samples so the user can select my sounds and then twist them up, I will have that VST for you.

So, please be patient.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff the Compusician
What happened to SpliceMusic?

What happened to the Splice (SpliceMusic) web site? I have not been able to get in for over a week now. Am I banned, or have any other users had a problem too?

Maybe it will be working again soon? What a bummer...

SpliceMusic.com information and comments on it is not working. Maybe their is an alternative web site to Splice?

I bet too many people were uploading copyrighted material, and thus having to shut them down... it's just a guess.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff

Lifting Heavy Objects

Can it be this simple? Maybe the solution I have is wrong, but I'm on the right path.

It is my thought that perhaps air pressure could be used to work against water to lift a heavy object, and thus make a Pyramid or a Coral Castle.

Here's how I see it, and I have included a diagram. You have an area of water. You have the heavy stone (already precut and laying there... hey, I'm just telling you how to lift it) and it is laying in the water or under water.

(Experiment 1) You place a Bell or Pyramid shaped cover over it (it must be more stable and sturdy than the object you are lifting). You attach a chain or rope from the object to the cover. You increase the air pressure inside the cover. Eventually enough air pressure will overcome the weight of the object and appear to float. As a matter of fact, it may be weightless to the whole system since the air pressure has equalized the weight of the object (but water may be displaced, so I can't say for sure without trying it if this produces a weight differential).

As a side note, wouldn't it be possible to fill a blimp with Hydrogen and since Hydrogen is lighter than air, it will float? I know. They already did it, but did they make that hydrogen from the air on the outside of the blimp? Thus creating a perpetual flying machine (as long as there is power to supply the electricity needed to split the atoms... the sun). (Also, air has moisture in it, that's where I'm getting the Hydrogen from).

Perhaps we could fill that Bell in Experiment 1 with Hydrogen instead of air, and compress that? I see this method as being promising.

Okay, that is how I see the Pyramids being built. More importantly, someone could tool around with this idea and make some pretty efficient power generators, not to mention being able to make water anywhere this generator is working.

Please see my diagram with this article.

My Ukraine Girls

Still kicking around a title for this song. Okay, here is the link to start this project off. I think everything is still free, but hurry! (Okay, that was cheap...). I'm a music man not a SALES man, that's for sure!

(Not too sure about the music part either???)

I just uploaded the intro beat to SpliceMusic. Here is the Link:

http://www.splicemusic.com/sounds/compusician/kiev-beat-intro1-132-compusician-mp3/#comments

Peace Out, Gary Ruff, The Compusician
Ukraine Girls

The song is well on its way. Instead of calling my files "Jackson" (I use a different City for each song), I will use Kiev. So, the first beat sample I will upload to SpliceMusic.com will be something like:

Kiev-Beat-INTRO1-132-Compusician-mp3

This way, you can search for all the samples related to the song, "Ukraine Girls" just by putting in the search box: Compusician and Kiev.

Oh, and I use USA cities for 120 beats per minute, and now I use Ukraine Cities for 132 beats per minute.

I know it doesn't matter much now, but if I should ever happen to stumble upon a hit song (like about 100 in a row), then people can come back and look at this stuff. Who cares who is dating who in hollywood, or what the king of pop ate for breakfeast this morning?

It would have been great to have legends like Buddy Holly, Elvis, and you know the list... living today or at least how they crafted their art!

Peace Out, Gary Ruff The Compusician

Oh, and yes I did lay down a bass line. It's not right. I think I will use AC/DC's style, and craft from the riff. So, be patient, I'm making a guitar chord riff for the song. I will build off of that. I hope to make a song that sounds like DePeche Mode meets AC/DC. Usually my songs sound like Earnie meets Bert. So, back to the microphone I go! (Lyrics are starting to run through my head. I'm not writing a Physics theorm, just some simple lines going through my head).
I want a Ukraine Girl

I'm going to write a song about some aspect of this topic, getting a Ukraine Girl. I have decided on a rock dance style song and I'll increase the beat from my usual 120 bpm, to 132 bpm.

So, that's the start. A song called, "Ukraine Girl" at 132 beats per minute set in the Dance and Rock styles. That is October 0f 2008's song. Since this is the first time I am doing it this way, I'll learn with you the ups and downs. It could be quite possible that one of you reading this will actually finish the song before I do! Why? Because, as I make the song parts, I am uploading them to SpliceMusic, and you can easily change the parts around, add your own sounds, or remix it before I do the final take.

Just think (in my dreams, and many other musicians), there will be millions of versions of my song BEFORE I have ever released it (by the way Music Industry Leaders... this would seem to me to be a great way to make money... Since the market will be flooded with your Band's song before it even comes out, so many good and bad quality tunes, you have the "convenience factor" working in your favor).

Let me give an example. Brittney Spears announces she is going to make a song with the public (just like I will try to do here, except she will actually have fans). Maybe a contest. Maybe if there are too many entries, have an entry fee like they do for Chess Tournaments (only this is a song tournament). Winners get the cash, recording deal yada yada...

While she is making this song, maybe she uses other people's ideas along the way. This increases her fan loyalty. Now, how to market this song when it is done and has flooded the market ahead of time? When she decides to start coming to the communities where the best songs were produced by her fans, the news media will give free advertising (especially when it involves children, schools, hospitals).

Also, because the internet will be soooooo flooded with her tune that is not the one Brittney is selling, a music lover will just go to her site and buy it for a small price. Convenience. If it becomes a hit, and others have helped make the tune, and others will be seeing Brittney in her community, she will do even better on her next song (when people see that anybody can contribute to a succesful venture).

And if the music biz does not like my idea, then I will do it.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff The Compusician

PS... Ahhh.... a Ukraine Girl, much better than Brittney for sure!
All right...

I am still working with 120 bpm music. This next set is the "Jackson" set. You can start to hear this new baby's (song) song take shape over at SpliceMusic.com ... as a matter of fact, it might be better for me to get the beat up there BEFORE I start this quest...

So that is what I'll do. And in the mean time, I'll think of a topic or subject that really makes me excited...

Peace Out, Gary

Art. A picture is worth a thousand words. Art. And when art is displayed, a piece of the artist has left his soul, but the world of inspiration, thought, and imagination is exponential. There is an abundant never ending supply of "soul", no matter how much of it we give away. Art.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff the Compusician
The Birth Canal

Before the chicken. Before the egg. First came the IDEA...

I have included in my personal checklist of song making to include the fore thoughts to the song. Many ask which came first, the lyrics or the music. But before any of that happens, something has to spark an idea. I want to try and capture that spark, that one moment in time that leads to the completion of a song. "Song Blogging" I guess you can call it.

And, as god to my music, I see a vision (I vision a scene?)... where many people are in the chat with me, and many people are blogging their own ideas with me, and with us together... that leads to the birth of many new song adventures.

I'll start out with the blog (not much for chatting you know...). If you got some ideas for a song, or some comments on anything that interests you (and me) in this universe... now is the time to speak up! Hurry! We're having a baby! :)

Peace Out, The Compusician

Anastasia Pic

Anasatsia from Ukraine
Who is John Peniel?

I tried to find out this info on line using Google, and seemed to be difficult if you do not have the correct Spelling.

He is suppose to be the World Leader or Messenger, that will bring to the world, a new order of things. Is this good or bad? I don't know. You decide for yourself. Article Link: http://www.atlantis.to/edgar-cayce.htm

I found spellings like, Jon, John, Panille, Panile, Penile, Peneil, Peniel, Panilla, and the list goes on. The correct spelling according to Edgar Cayce is Jon Peniel.

My concern is that often these oracles are not often right, but strangely very close to thier predictions. Has anyone on the inside notice that John McCain and Sarah Palin are oddly close to this prediction?

I wonder what message they have to deliver?

These next few years will prove to be very interesting indeed. Either way, Obama or McCain, we will be in for a ride as these people have not much to do with the order in which the country was left for them to lead. I will of course support whichever candidate we select, for I am an American... and that gives me a right to complain about things from time to time.

Good luck to the winner, may God Bless us all.

Cocoa And Bananas

I was buying these pills online for "cocoa". Americans take pills for everything. I think it is a convenience factor. However, I found in the store over there at Wal-Mart, some Cocoa.

It was brown, all ground up, and appeared to be ready to use. It does not dissolve in water, at least in a fast manner. But, it will dissolve if you let it stand for a while.

Ingredients: Cocoa

That's what the label said, and it cost me only 2 or 3 dollars.

So, I tried it in my tea. Yuk. I tried to dissolve it in water. In time, it worked! But still, yuk.

Then the magic happened! I peeled a banana and stuck it in the cocoa jar... a home run!

So Hershey listen up! Bananas and Cocoa are the next big thing! Maybe throw in some Peanut Butter?

Wow! I have to try it! I'll be back soon...

Sincerely, Gary Ruff, Peace Out!
N2W

I have an idea for Lone Star Park, the “Not to Win” pool. Of course, only available at Lone Star Park on line or at the event.

Here's how it works: First, Gary Ruff gets season box seats for life for coming up with this idea (with courtesy free meal and 2 drinks). If another park uses my idea, I'll do the deal with them.

2.You create a “Not to Win Pool”. It acts much like “shorting the stock market”.
3.If I bet the 6 horse “Not to Win” (N2W), then I will get paid from the pool by WHERE the 6 horse finishes. If it finishes last, (like Big Brown), AND not many players placed this same bet, then I am a big winner.
4.If the horse finishes somewhere in between, say 4th... then the pool is divided as such:

You can offer DNF insurance or Scratch insurance so that bettors whom use a system can feel confident that their bets will be safe far in advance of the race.

Example: I get on line a few days early of the Preakness. I have a system. The Preakness offers me DNF or Scratch insurance (DNFSI) for a rate of $1.00 for the entire race day. ($1.00 is just an example, that can be determined later how to develop the real price). If something “odd” happens that day, the insurance pool can pay out to the bettors affected.

As a matter of fact, if you combine my N2W idea with DNF and Scratch insurance, you could come with a pool called “Loss Protection Insurance”. Just think if everyone coming to the track today purchased the insurance, through some computerized system, they ALL could leave with a check.

What? Yes. When they get home, they are still tied to the races because they will want to know what their “insurance” will pay. Make insurance cost $1.00 per unit. They can purchase as little as 1 unit or units much higher of insurance! What does this do? Well, first of all, people will feel protected and less afraid to come to the race park to place conventional bets. Secondly, they will feel more free to bet on Big Brown to win, as they place an insurance bet (a real insurance bet) that he doesn't do any worse!

The track is not losing any money. The bettors place their insurance bet and draw from the pool the same as if they were betting to win. The difference is that the common guy will feel protected, and gambling will become more “friendly”.

Peace Out, Gary Ruff - Horse Bettor and Compusician

PS There are 2 main motivating factors in life (maybe more). Greed and Fear. Why not make money at both ends? If I go in and bet on Big Brown to Win, maybe I have a 10 cent fear with that bet. 10 cents of insurance. If I go in and bet “Gary's Dream O Rama”, maybe I want to purchase a little more insurance. The point is, money can be made playing on both ends of Greed and Fear, not just Greed.

Love is the 3rd motivating factor, I haven't quite figured out LEGALLY how to do that one! :)

(And if you did, what would the Brothels in Nevada be like????)

MotoRokr!

Damn! It's about time they have a cell phone that plays music (not that iTunes, stuff, but mp3!).

It will be great when my new cell phone company can provide this phone, Net10. I want music in my cell phone! And I want to hear via Blue Tooth! And a camera would be nice, with International Text Messaging.

Heres the ROKR Video: http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/rokre8/experience/#blog-this-video

And to dream about the future? A phone that lets me download a movie, connect it up to my TV and I have the ultimate phone, music player, video device.

And??? .... oh yes, as a guy, I want to be able to download a Steelers Game in progress, while it plays on my TV.

:)

But who wants to make money anyways? Go to work techies!

Love Ya, Peace Out, Gary Ruff

PS Techies, you need to develop a path for the money to flow worldwide. PayPal seems like a possibility. It has to be "open market" too. Why? Open Market is what seems to support creativity. If we had an open market on energy, would we all be buying oil? I think not.

Taking Back America...

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler
Corporation from it's death throes?

He's now 82 years old and has a new book, and here are
some excerpts.

Lee Iacocca Says:

'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with
what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We
should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of
clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a
cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind,
and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less
build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone
sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say,
'Stay the course'

Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is
America , not the damned 'Titanic'. I'll give you a sound
bite: 'Throw all the bums out!'

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off
my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up.
I hardly recognize this country anymore.

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators
but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq ,
the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what
to do. And the press is waving 'pom -poms' instead of
asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the '
America ' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean
for. I've had enough. How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a
patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready
and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis ! (Iacocca
elaborates on nine Cs of leadership, crisis being the
first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times
of crisis. It's easy to sit there with your feet up on
the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off
to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself.
It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling
down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more
than any other time in our history. We needed a steady
hand to guide us out of the ashes. A Hell of a Mess So
here's where we stand. We're immersed in a bloody war
with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. We're
running the biggest deficit in the history of the country.
We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our
once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health
care costs. Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in
power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are in
trouble. Our borders are like sieves. The middle class
is being squeezed every which way These are times that cry
out for leadership.

But when you look around, you've got to ask:' Where have
all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative
communicators? Where are the people of character,
courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? may
be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the
point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland
security than making us take off our shoes in airports and
throw away our shampoo? We've spent billions of dollars
building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do
is react to things that have already happened.

Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of
Hurricane Katrina. Congress has yet to spend a single day
evaluating the response to the hurricane, or demanding
accountability for the decisions that were made in the
crucial hours after the storm.

Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it
doesn't happen again. Now, that's just crazy. Storms
happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what
you're going to do the next time.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively
about how we can restore our competitive edge in
manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could
ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese
car companies? How did this happen, and more important,
what are we going to do about it?

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for
paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or
managing the health care problem. The silence is
deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away
at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn't elect you
to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent
while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is
being replaced with mediocrity. What is everybody so
afraid of? That some bonehead on Fox News will call them
a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some
spine for a change?

Had Enough?

Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom
here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out
because I have hope I believe in America . In my lifetime
I've had the privilege of living through some of America 's
greatest moments. I've also

experienced some of our worst crises: the 'Great
Depression', 'World War II', the 'Korean War', the
'Kennedy Assassination', the 'Vietnam War', the 1970s oil
crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with
9/11. If I've learned

one thing, it's this: 'You don't get anywhere by standing
on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action.
Whether it's building a better car or building a better
future for our children, we all have a role to play.
That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a
call to 'Action' for people who, like me, believe in
America . It's not too late, but it's getting pretty
close. So let's shake off the crap and go to work. Let's
tell 'em all we've had 'enough.'

"There are candidates out there right now working harder than ever", says Gary Ruff an Independent Party Candidate. "It is ashamed we cannot seem to find a few good men, the kind that built this country. Instead, we have men building their families, without a care to the country. At least they haven't given up on the Church, but as Rome goes...

Make your own contribution by sending this to everyone you
know and care about. It's our country, folks; and it's our
future. Our future is at stake!
